Sagitta, the fiber optics industry's only supplier for fully automating the polish-clean and inspection of fiber optic components and connectors, today announced a strategic partnership agreement with Moritex Corporation of Japan. Effective immediately, Moritex will become the representative in Japan for Sagitta's leading-edge fiber optic process equipment.

"Sagitta is committed to first-rate customer service in this rapidly growing market, which is why we selected Moritex to represent us," said Mr. Jeff Long, Director of Sales at Sagitta. "With pressure to manufacturer lower cost products and the FTTH Japanese initiative we feel automation is the solution for enabling component manufacturers to keep production lines in Japan and not have to move them to low labor countries. And as one of the best established fiber optic agents for the Japan fiber optics and photonics industries, Moritex is the ideal partner for us, as a company that maintains a stellar reputation and strong understanding of the Japanese market, as well as the specific and special needs of customers."

“We successfully introduced the first automated high volume polishing & inspection machine, the Gemini Cx, in 2002 and this relationship will enable us to follow through with additional cells as early as this year” said Amir Chitayat, Sagitta’s CEO. He added “We are committed to becoming the leading equipment provider to the fiber optic patch cord industry and this relationship will enable us to achieve this faster and better. We are proud of the fact that Corning Cable Systems has teamed up with us, demonstrating their confidence in our ability to bring novel manufacturing solutions to the patch cord industry”

Sagitta has successfully penetrated the fiber optics component manufacturing industry, launching a new line of standard-setting process and inspection equipment. Gemini, the company's flagship product family, is first to market with an integrated process solution of polishing, cleaning, and optical inspection for fiber optic components. The Gemini-Pi services planar devices, v-groove fiber arrays, ferrule assemblies, and other critical components. The Gemini-Cx is the process solution for connectors, cable assemblies, and flex circuits. "We are quite excited to handle Sagitta products in Japan. With our expertise in fiber optics business in Japan, we are sure Gemini will help customers optimize manufacturing process of components," said Mr. Atsushi Haga, Deputy General Manager at Moritex.
