System delivers dramatic yield improvement for advanced connector applications

HAUPPAUGE, New York, Sagitta Ltd. announced today that it has shipped a Gemini-Cx to a global leader in data networking, storage and cable assemblies. The system will be utilized to seamlessly process Flex circuits and MT connectors, while providing dramatic yield and throughput improvements. The Gemini-Cx represents the industry's first turnkey manufacturing platform that combines polishing, cleaning and inspection on a single tool. All processes are recipe driven with fully automated process flow ensuring superior run to run repeatability. High volume, batch processing coupled with precision control of the polishing process, yields the lowest Cost of Ownership in the industry today. The Gemini C-x delivers outstanding photonic performance minimizing insertion and return loss values over the complete range of optical components. The Gemini-Cx also features a fully automated optical inspection system used for surface inspection and pass-fail sorting. The system is completely recipe driven and is network ready for factory automation.
