Sagitta Ltd. announced today that a global leader in network components for the telecommunications industry located in Europe has placed an order for the first Gemini-Cx, the first automated polish-and-inspection system dedicated for fiber optic connectors.
The Gemini-Cx is the first manufacturing system with the seamless integration of multiple processes required for surface preparation of fiber optic connectors. The system integrates the processes of polishing, cleaning and optical inspection on a single platform. It can process parts in batch mode at high throughput rates for PC, APC and multi-channel connectors, such as MT-RJ type.

The Gemini-Cx is designed to accept a variety of connectors, cables or flex-circuit products. The process chamber is large enough to accommodate cumbersome cabling slack and a quick disconnect polishing head can be exchanged rapidly for processing a variety connector types. All motion during process, handling and transport is completely servo-controlled for precision and speed. Also key to the Gemini-Cx is the fully automated optical inspection station used for surface inspection and pass-fail sorting. The system is completely recipe driven and is network ready for factory automation.
